Anambra State: Unknown Gunmen brutally murdered Igwe Aguleri
Gunmen reportedly killed the former traditional ruler of Aguleri in Anambra East local government area. Igwe Alex Edozieuno along Otuocha road.
The former monarch was allegedly killed alongside his driver, Chukwuemeka around 10am.
Edozieuno, 62, was one of the 12 traditional rulers in the state suspended last year by Governor Willie Obiano for visiting President Muhammadu Buhari in Abuja in company of the billionaire oil magnate, Prince Arthur Eze.
In a trending video, the monarch was shot in the head and dragged into the nearby bush while his driver, equally shot in the head, was left in the vehicle.
Anambra Police spokesman Ikenga Tochukwu, confirmed the incident.
He said the new Commissioner of Police Tony Olofu had visited the crime scene.
It was not clear what led to the killing, some people in the area believed it was pure assassination.
