Anthony Joshua says he learnt his lesson after defeat by Usyk
Joshua, who will fight Usyk in a rematch in the coming days, also said he had identified his mistakes.
The 31-year-old lost his IBF, WBA, WBO heavyweight titles last Saturday to the Ukrainian at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London.
In an Instagram post on Thursday, Joshua said he had also analysed his preparations and advised his fans not to worry about him.
Anthony Joshua says he has watched his fight with Oleksandr Usyk and learnt his lessons.
He wrote, “I’ve watched the fight, analysed my preparations & identified my mistakes. I’ve learnt my lesson,” he wrote.
“Thanks for sending love & checking in.
“Don’t worry about me. My spirit is strong! “
Meanwhile, Andy Ruiz Jr, a former unified heavyweight champion, has listed three mistakes Anthony Joshua made during his heavyweight fight with Oleksandr Usyk last weekend.
Ruiz, who beat Joshua in June 2019 before the Briton bounced back by winning their rematch six months later, claimed that AJ was ‘hesitant,’ ‘scared’, and ‘probably underestimated’ Usyk during the contest.
Recall that Joshua suffered a unanimous shock points defeat to Usyk, losing his WBA, IBF, WBO and IBO to the Ukrainian at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
It was also Joshua’s second defeat in four fights.
“I thought Anthony was going to be the stronger man,” Ruiz told FightHype.
“I thought he was going to box him [Usyk] around with his abilities, you know.
“He just kind of stayed there. I don’t know why he was not moving around, like in the second fight with me.
