Breaking: Ex-Super Eagles media Officer, Ben Alayia is dead
A former Press Officer for the Super Eagles of Nigeria, Ben Alaiya, has died. The news of his death was announced via a post on his Facebook page on Wednesday, October 6.
According to the Facebook post Alaiya died in his village in Benin, Edo State. The sports journalist reportedly died of a brief illiness.
A Sports writer, Arabi Rotimi, while expressing his feeling about the death of the sports pundit, wrote “Sad to believe that a senior colleague (Former sports editor of Daily independent, Former media officer of Super Eagles, an executive management team of Sportsday newspaper Ben Alaiya is no more. Rip Ever smilling Boss. The deceased who hailed from Ososo in Edo State, was born on December 9, 1968.
Meanwhile, Ike Shorunmu, a former Super Eagles number one goalkeeper, on Wednesday, described the death of Ben Alaiya as sad
“It is so painful that we have to say goodbye to Alaiya now, he was a thorough breed, a professional per excellence, and he was particular about the image of the team during his time. “He was a team player, I pray God grant his family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss and grant him eternal rest,” Shorunmu said.
