Four suspects arrested in Adamawa for extorting people by threatening to kidnap them
The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested four suspects for extorting people by threatening to kidnap them.
Spokesperson of the command, DSP Suleiman Nguroje, in a statement on Saturday, said the suspects specialise in calling people and asking them to pay certain amounts of money or they would be kidnapped.
“The command’s operatives attached to intelligent Department (SIB),on the 15/9/2021 received report from one Ibrahim Jauro a native of Shelleng local government area. That he was called and threatened severally by an unknown subscriber via GSM no . *08034021865* to pay the sum of Two million naira or be kidnap,” he stated.
The CP immediately deployed the command’s machinery to prevent the intended crime from happening thereby apprehended the criminal minded persons
He gave the names of the suspects as Farouk Muktar, 40, and Hamza Dahiru,39, both residents of Shelleng local government area.
“In a similar case,on the 15/10/2021 some unknown subscribers repeatedly called and threatened to kidnap Yuguda Adamu a resident of Namtari, in Yola south, via Gsm no. *09032949636* and *07063607748* or pay N5,000,000
“As he timely reports, Investigation commences and luckily *Shuaibu Abdullahi 30years and Saidu Addullahi 31years* both residents of Namtari village, Yola south were arrested and they confessed committing the crime.” the PPRO added.
