#AnambraDecides: Ohanaeze Ndigbo warns against supplementary poll manipulation

Ohaneze warns against supplementary poll manipulation. Acting Youth Leader of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Onwuasoanya Jones has praised what he described as the apparent impartiality of President Muhammadu Buhari and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in the ongoing Anambra governorship election.

Onwuasoanya, in a statement, said his organisation was satisfied with the conduct of the poll but regretted the hitches experienced in deploying the BVAS which he noted might have significantly discouraged a number of citizens who turned out to cast their votes.

According to him: “The exercise is not very disappointing. I believe that the results announced so far represent to a large extent the wishes of the majority of voters.

“We were all afraid that the President, being a member of a political party might want to interfere with the processes in order to favour his party. But, it is clear that he allowed the electoral process to run its full course. For that, we commend him.

“Preliminary reports from the Election Security Monitoring Committee set up by our organization to monitor the election also indicate that the Independent National Electoral Commission were mostly impartial and security agents deployed to secure the election were mostly professional in discharging their duties.
