Four dead, others injured in another Lagos building collapse
Four die in another Lagos building collapse. Another building collapsed yesterday in Lagos with four persons confirmed dead.
The two-storey building located at Sunny Field, Flowermill Estate, Magbon in Olorunda Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Badagry, caved in around 1pm while workers were inside.
No fewer than four buildings under construction have collapsed across the state in the past two weeks including the 21-storey Fourscore Homes at Ikoyi and two other structures in the Lekki area of the state.
It was gathered that the four fatalities recorded yesterday were recovered from the site unconscious but died before arriving Badagry General Hospital.
Relatives of the deceased were said to have immediately identified them but it was unclear if their bodies were handed over to their family members.
It was gathered that construction work began about two years ago but was later suspended only for workers to resume there three months ago.
The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and the Lagos State Fire Service confirmed the incident, adding that all trapped persons have been evacuated from the collapsed structure.
NEMA’s Southwest Coordinator, Ibrahim Farinloye, said the five injured victims were taken to Catholic Hospital, Magbon for medical attention, adding that rescue operation was already concluded.
He confirmed that the four persons recovered unconscious, died while being rushed to hospital by police operatives.
