
Yusuf Yusf — the senator representing Taraba central in the National Assembly has claimed that Quran is against gender equality. Senator Yusuf made this claim while rejecting a bail seeking to promote women empowerment and gender equality.
The bill was sponsored by the Senator representing Ekiti South and a ranking member of the Senate — Biodun Olujimi.
According to report, Yusuf vowed not to support the passage of the bill until the word equal is removed.

Former Governor of Sokoto state and Senator representing Sokoto North, Aliyu Wamakko, backed Yusuf’s claim over equality.

After listening to the concerns of the Senators, Senate president — Ahmad Lawan asked the Senator Olujimi to stand down the bill. He said that the views raised by the Senators who spoke against the bill must be addressed if the proposed legislation must pass.
