Doctor and his friend murdered in Abuja – Police

Police begins investigation into alleged killing of doctor, his friend in Abuja
Detectives in Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command have commenced investigation into the death of a Radiologist, Dr. Obialo Ibe and his friend, who were murdered by unknown assailants in his residence at Games Village area of the FCT Abuja.

According to a source at the Command Headquarters in Garki, Abuja, the police boss, CP Sunday Babaji has set up a team of homicide investigators to unearth those behind the killing.
The victims were reportedly stabbed to death between 8:00a.m. and 11:00a.m. on Wednesday, December 15. According to reports, the house help was suspected to have poisoned the victims before stabbing them to death.

“It is believed that the house boy poisoned the doctor and his friend, hacked them to death, and stole his SUV, cash, and took off. I heard that he was arrested at the Nigeria-Niger border,” a neighbour had said.
Ibe’s younger sister, Adanna Ibe, was quoted by one Anthony Ogbo, as saying that the slain doctor was scheduled to leave for the United States of America with his friend the day of their murder.
He added that they were stabbed several times in the chest and abdomen, while Ibe’s new car, luggage and some documents were taken away by the assailant.

Obi was reportedly ready to leave for the airport and his sister later called to wish him a safe journey but could not reach him.
After several attempts, she then called the house boy, who claimed that he left Obi at home for an errand. Adanna was said to have become worried and went back home. On reaching home, the gate was locked from the outside with a new padlock. She called the house boy again who told her where to find the new key.

“She got into the house and found the lifeless Obi and his friend in a pool of their own blood. They both have been stabbed several times in the chest and abdomen. She found his five month-old car, travelling luggage and documents all gone,” Ogbo added.
