I killed five-year-old Hanifa with N100 rat poison – Suspect confesses

Tanko had demanded a N6 million ransom from the parents of the child and in the process of collecting part of the money, he was arrested.

Abdulmalik Tanko, the proprietor of Noble Kids Nursery and Primary School, Kawana, Kano, has narrated how he used a N100 rat poison to end the life of one of his pupils.

Hanifa Abubakar, a five-year-old pupil of the school, was kidnapped while on her way from Islamiyya School in December and subsequently killed.

He had failed to disclose that the victim had been killed.

When he was arrested at the Kano Police Command headquarters on Friday, he told journalists that he poisoned the girl with a rat poison that he bought for N100.

Meanwhile, President Buhari has urged the Police and Ministry of Justice to uphold the integrity of the detective work that busted the case by preparing well and presenting a good case that will earn the respect of the court.

President Muhammadu Buhari has reacted to the murder of Hanifa Abubakar, the five-year-old school girl whose body was discovered in a shallow grave in Kano after near two months.

In a statement released by his media aide, Garba Shehu, the President in the same breath praised the work of the police and the secret service in unraveling the mystery behind the disappearance of Hanifa, and particularly for the arrest of her teacher and his other accomplices suspected of the child’s kidnap and murder.
