Lagos Rail Projects Ready 2022 — Gov Sanwo-Olu

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos, on Monday, assured that the fourth quarter 2022 completion target for the Red and Blue line rail projects remains on course.
Mr Sanwo-Olu gave the assurance while addressing journalists after inspection of the projects at Ikeja, Yaba, Ebute Metta and Marina stations.

The Red and Blue line rail is part of the intermodal transportation system of the Sanwo-Olu administration in reducing gridlock and ensuring interconnectivity in different parts of the state. When completed, the 37 kilometres Red Line Rail Project will link Agbado to Marina, while the 27.5 kilometres Blue line Rail Project will run from Okokomaiko to Marina.

He expressed satisfaction with the pace of works at the rail stations, as the contractors were on course, hoping that they would round up works on the Blue and Red line rails according to schedule for commercial activities later in the year.

COVID-19: Buhari Under Close Observation, Cancels Trip

Reports had emerged last week that top aides of the president which includes the Permanent Secretary in the State House, Tijani Umar; the President’s aide-de-camp (ADC), Yusuf Dodo; his chief security officer (CSO), Aliyu Musa, and his senior special assistant on media and publicity, Garba Shehu had tested positive for COVID-19 and were in isolation.

It was gathered that activities at the Aso Rock Villa have been shut down following the outbreak of COVID-19.

President Muhammadu Buhari reportedly received Vice President — Yemi Osinbajo on Christmas homage on Saturday at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

It was gathered that the visit was paid as a way to celebrate Christmas with the President and his family.

Osinbajo who was in company of his wife, Dolapo, used the occasion of the visit to pray for President Buhari and Nigeria.

President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday, December 23, said his administration will keep giving its best for the development of the country until May, 2023, reiterating that he will hand over as stipulated by the constitution.
The President spoke after the commissioning of Oriental Energies Resource Ltd Hanger, Muhammadu Indimi Distance Learning Centre and an International Conference Centre donated to the University of Maiduguri by business mogul, Alhaji Muhammadu Indimi.
President Buhari also commissioned the Tijjani Bolori Memorial Secondary School and the first fly-over in Borno State, Custom Roundabout (3.5km) with a stretch of 10 km Gamboru Ngala Road constructed by the state government.

FG introduces digital tokens to replace NIN slip – report

The Federal Government says it has introduced digital tokens to replace the National Identity Number (NIN) slip. The Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Isa Pantami, said this at a workshop on the NIN Tokenization Solution organised by the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) in Abuja.

He said the government adopted the solution to ensure the privacy of users’ personal information and to reduce incidences of illegal retrieval, usage, transfer, and storage of NIN.
The minister who was represented by the Director-General of NIMC, Aliyu Abubakar, said the implementation of the tokens begins on January 1.
