Your First Country is Nigeria: Man Told as He Celebrates Joining the United States Army

A Nigerian-American who has successfully joined the United States Army has gone on LinkedIn to celebrate his achievement. The man identified as Abdulaziz Bakare is full of joy after successfully completing his combat training and being sworn in as a US soldier. Interestingly, Mr Bakare’s LinkedIn profile shows that he is also a Technology Risk Consultant at an accounting giant firm, KPMG. It also indicates that he studied Law at the Lagos State University, graduating in 2013.

He then proceeded to the Nigerian Law School and finished his compulsory one-year law training in 2014. Mr Bakare also obtained a master’s degree in Cyber Security and National Security Law from the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law.

Gen Bipin Rawat, his wife and 11 others killed after helicopter crash in Southern India

Recent clashes with Pakistan and China have again raised concerns about the state of India’s military equipment in the face of the two-pronged threat on its borders.

General Bipin Rawat, India’s highest-ranking military official, leading efforts to modernize the country’s armed forces, died in a helicopter crash Wednesday along with his wife and 11 others, officials said.

His death was confirmed in a statement by the country’s defense minister, Rajnath Singh, after hours of uncertainty as senior officials rushed to the crash site in the southern state of Tamil Nadu and the victims were taken to a nearby hospital. Video footage showed the wreckage in a forested slope, with rescue workers trying to douse the flames.

Abuja residents narrates how soldiers invaded homes, assaulted them

“I learnt that when some people have a disagreement with someone, the next thing such a person will do is to go and invite a soldier at their base to come and molest people,”

There was tension on Sunday, November 21, 2021, at Tungan-Maje community in Gwagwalada Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, as soldiers invaded three houses while shooting sporadically.
It was learnt that the soldiers attacked the houses at about 7:15pm and allegedly beat up one of the kingmakers of the community identified as the Galadima of Tungan-Maje, Salihu Aliyu, and his son, Abdulrahman Salihu.

The soldiers, who were said to be about thirteen 13 in number dressed in army uniforms.
They also wielded guns and sticks and they stormed the community in a Hilux vehicle.
It was also gathered that the soldiers allegedly beat up a 24-year-old student of the College of Education, Zuba, Shemau Salihu, who sustained a fracture on her hand, and five others in the community.
It was further found that some commercial motorcyclists passing through the area, who decided to stop at the scene of the incident, were also beaten by the soldiers.

Nigerian Navy headquarters has reacted to a viral video showing the bruises left on a teenage boy’s back after he was allegedly flogged by an officer in the school.

According to a statement by the Nigerian Navy Director of Information, Commodore Suleiman Dahun, the video had been sent to the management of the school by a parent who did not specify when the incident happened or the person involved.

Police arrest fake soldier who tries to free detained Suspect in Niger. A man dressed up as a soldier and went to secure the release of a detained suspect has been arrested in Niger State.
Emmanuel Dominic, 28, was arrested when he went to Maitumbi police station in Minna to free his friend who was in custody, police said.
During interaction with the police operatives, Dominic who wore Nigerian Army service number 05313, was discovered to be fake as he could not answer some routine questions usually posed to security personnel. He was then arrested and interrogated whereupon he confessed that he was not a soldier but paraded himself as one in order to secure the release of his friend in police custody.

The Chief of Defence Staff, General Lucky Irabor, has frowned at the manner at which the Lagos State Judicial Panel of Inquiry on Restitution for Victims of SARS Related Abuses and Other Matters (Lagos EndSARS Panel), report leaked yesterday.

Irabor equally faulted the attack on Soldiers, noting that “we will not at this point think that Nigerians should make disparaging remarks regarding the Armed Forces of Nigeria, in the sense that we are a professional armed forces. If there are issues, of course, we address them within the ambit of the provisions.”
