Bayelsa community halts oil exploration, sack workers

The media relations manager said that the development had been reported to the appropriate government agencies.

Some residents of Opukushi in Ekeremor Local Government Area of Bayelsa State have disrupted oil exploration at an oilfield operated by Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC) in the area.


The community resident hosting SPDC’s EA fields took the action to protest alleged exclusion from contracts in the ongoing oil drilling.
The Chairman of Opukushi Community Development Committee, Chief Preye Simon, said that the people took the action to draw attention to their plight.

Groom’s parents, siblings, and uncle die in fatal accident hours after wedding in Bayelsa

Nine wedding guests including the the groom’s parents, siblings, uncle have died in a fatal auto crash in Bayelsa state. The accident occurred at the tollgate along Glory Land drive in Igbogene axis of Yenagoa, the state capital on Saturday, December 4. 

According to an eyewitness, the deceased persons were returning to their base in Ebedebiri in Sagbama Local Government Area of the state after the wedding ceremony of Keme Kelvin and Florence, when the unfortunate incident happened.

Mixed reactions as Bayelsa youth leader suggests writing to Commissioner of Police to arrest underage girls in nightclubs as a way of reducing teenage pregnancy

President of Yenagoa Federated Youth Council and a media aide to the Bayelsa State Govenrment, Peres Ineife, has suggested writing to the State Commisioner of Police to arrest underage girls in nightclubs as a way of reducing teenage pregnancy.

However, the suggestion generated mixed reactions from some Bayelsans. While most agreed with his suggestion, others expressed reservations.
Francis Ebipade wrote: “My comrade, this underage girls na our big men dey bank roll them so I doubt if the arrest will be effective. Ps:you know police wahala.”

“Yes na. In addendum, the Yenagoa Youth Council under your able leadership should sponsor a Bill in the State House of Assembly to that effect. The bill will cover all the issues, concerns, observations and opinions raised by commentators in the lead post” Meshak wrote.

The United Kingdom has warned its citizens against travelling to twelve states in Nigeria over insecurity issues.

This was disclosed in a travel advisory published by the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO).

Citizens have been warned to stay away from these twelve states: Borno, Yobe, Bayelsa, Bauchi, Gombe, Kaduna, Katsina, Delta, Rivers, Cross River, Zamfara, and Adamawa states.

Super TV CEO murder: Cheating, increase in sex drive and death are resultant effects of monogamy – Bayelsa Governor’s media aide advocates for polygamy.

Media aide to Bayelsa State Governor, Bodmas Kemepadei, has reiterated his call for people to embrace polygamy.

Kemepadei, who is no a stranger to controversy (read HERE and HERE ) stated this on Friday June 25, while reacting to the arrest of 21-year-old UNILAG student, Chidimma Ojukwu for the alleged murder of the Chief Executive Officer of Super TV, Usifo Ataga.

According to the Bayelsa media personality, man’s attempt to practice monogamy has led to cheating, heartbreaks, increase in sex drive and death.

I’ reiterate my earlier position, man is polygamous by nature, in man’s self seeking attempt to practice monogamy, the resultant effects are; lies, cheating, heartbreaks, increase in sex drive and possibly death. So before you crucify her, please read this;

According to Chidinma Adaora, “I stabbed him on his neck twice and later on his stomach after he had forcefully had sex with me initially. I was tired and exhausted and wanted to sleep but Mr Michael won’t have any of that. He became very violent and tried choking me to death.” he wrote.

Mr Kemepadei further said that faithfulness to one woman is not a guarantee of not being stabbed.
