Boko Haram attack Chibok community in Borno, kill four persons, abduct girls

The Islamic State of West African Province (ISWAP), a breakaway faction of the Boko Haram terrorist group, has launched a fresh attack at the Kautikari community in Chibok Local Government Area of Borno.

It was gathered that the terrorists invaded the area around 5 pm on Friday and started shooting sporadically, killing four persons before abducting an unspecific number of girls.

Some of the villagers who spoke to TheCable said the insurgents also set a market and several houses ablaze, forcing residents to run to the bushes for safety.

Boko Haram/ISWAP release photos of some abducted victims

Boko Haram/ISWAP terror group has released photos of three of the victims they abducted along Chibok-Damboa road in Borno State.  

It would be recalled that the terror group abducted six staff working with Borno State Ministry of Work along Chibok-Damboa Road on Wednesday, December 1 and another 15 persons, mostly passengers and motorists, along the same road hours later and forcibly took them into Sambisa Forest.

SSG reacts to Boko Haram, ISWAP establishing camps in Niger State

Niger State government has reacted to the presence of Boko Haram terrorists and members of Islamic State of West Africa (ISWAP) in Borgu and Shiroro Local Government Areas of the state.

The ISWAP members have already established their presence in Babana, a border town between Nigeria and the Republic of Benin in  Borgu Local Government Area of the state.

Boko Haram were trying to convince the people in the rural communities to join their group, highlighting that they were instigating the villagers against the government by indoctrinating the people.

“He is finally dead and he will remain dead” said Chief of Defence Staff General Lucky Irabor. Iswap has been seen as the strongest jihadist group in Nigeria since the death of Boko Haram leader Abubakar Shekau earlier this year.

Since then, thousands of Boko Haram fighters have surrendered both to the military and reportedly to Iswap.

Boko Haram has taken over 500 communities in Niger state, says LGA chairman

Boko Haram insurgents have taken over more than 500 communities in Shiroro LGA, Niger State, according to Shiroro chairman Suleiman Chukuba.

Speaking with journalists on Friday, September 30, Chukuba said not less than 8 wards in the LGA are now under Boko Haram siege.
