Anthony Joshua has been told not to go ahead of with his rematch with Oleksandr Usyk because he could lose against the Ukranian again.
English boxing manager and promoter, Frank Warren believes the Ukrainian should instead face the Gypsy King since they both hold all the major belts following showdowns against Joshua and Deontay Wilder in the last three weeks.
Tyson Fury has hinted he could retire after his back to back victories against Deontay Wilder in their trilogy bout. The 33-year-old defended his WBC heavyweight belt over the weekend after blasting away the Bronze Bomber in Las Vegas.
The Gypsy King, who was dropped twice in the fourth round of their fight, sent his American rival crashing to the canvas three times in their third meeting.
Deontay Wilder will have surgery for a broken hand he suffered in Tyson Fury defeat. Wilder was brutally knocked out by Tyson Fury in round 11 of their trilogy, which was his second consecutive defeat to the British boxer.
It was claimed that the American boxer had broken his hand during the fight, and will now receive emergency surgery next week after returning home to Alabama following the gruelling Las Vegas thriller.
Tyson Fury’s wife, Paris, has taken shots at Deontay Wilder after losing for a second time to her husband. Wilder was stopped in the 11th round of a brutal trilogy fight in Las Vegas on Saturday as Fury retained the WBC heavyweight he had stripped the Bronze Bomber of in February 2020.
Speaking after her husband’s victory, Paris told Wilder to retire from the sport because the American is not good at boxing’ and ‘not tough enough.’
“Clearly he (Wilder) is a tough man, but he’s not tough enough,’ Paris Fury told iFL TV after the fight. The first fight in December 2018 ended in a controversial split draw, before the Gypsy King convincingly won the rematch in February 2020 and then retained his belt on Saturday.
Fury declared the ‘Wilder saga is done now, done for good’ after the trilogy fight and his wife agreed. ‘Three times now,’ she said in reference to her husband’s three encounters with the American.
‘Maybe he (Wilder) will shut up now, go home and go to bed. I’ll be polite but we don’t want to hear that man’s name again. ‘Let him go and do something else, do something else that he’s good at. He’s not good at boxing clearly.’
Deontay Wilder’s promoter has disclosed that the American will definitely fight Anthony Joshua even if the Briton loses his rematch with Oleksandr Usyk. Joshua lost to Ukrainian Usyk in London last month, a defeat which cost him his WBA (Super), IBF, WBO and IBO titles and wrecked his chances of taking on Tyson Fury in 2022.
