Abba Kyari to resume work as IGP lifts his suspension after investigation over alleged ties with Hushpuppi.
The Deputy Commissioner of Police was placed on suspension and relieved from all police duties pending the outcome of an internal investigation into his alleged connection with fraudster Ramon Abbas, popularly known as “Hushpuppi”.
Following the investigation, the Inspector General of Police lifted his suspension.

Hushpuppi who is currently in police custody facing trial for allegedly defrauding some persons and international companies after he was arrested in Dubai and extradited to the US has been going on an accomplice naming spree and the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Abba Kyari was allegedly complicit in his dealings.

Hushpuppi paid Abba Kyari N8m to detain Chibuzo, FBI alleges
The Federal Bureau of Investigation has alleged that money laundering suspect, Abass Ramon, aka Hushpuppi, paid N8m or $20,600 to the embattled Deputy Commissioner of Police, Abba Kyari, to arrest and detain a “co-conspirator,” Chibuzo Kelly Vincent.
A document issued by the United States District Court for the Central District of California and dated February 12, 2021, alleged that Hushpuppi contracted the services of Kyari after Chibuzo allegedly threatened to expose an alleged $1.1m fraud committed against a Qatari businessman.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, (EFCC) has dissociated itself from claims by alias Momphs, that he was advised by the Commission to maintain a low profile in the wake of the indictment of his friend, Abbas Ramon, Hushpuppi in a $1.11m international fraud conspiracy by US Law enforcement.
According to the Commission statement, they are not in any business of advising suspected internet fraudsters and it is far-fetched that it would counsel one against whom it has pending criminal charge in court.
We’ve been contacted by Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) to arrest Kyari over his connection with internet fraudster Hushpuppi says Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
A top source in the EFCC who spoke to the reporters however said no arrest can be made by the agency since Kyari is a police officer and that the case was not within the capacity of the EFCC but for the police to handle.
According to the source, “FBI has contacted EFCC, asking that we arrest Abba Kyari but we told them that it is a police matter.
The suspected internet fraudster who was arrested in Dubai in June 2020 allegedly told the FBI that he gave a bribe to Abba Kyari to facilitate the arrest and imprisonment of a member of his online fraud gang identified as Chibuzo Vincent. Kyari has however denied this allegation.
Meanwhile, the Inspector General of Police has ordered an internal review of all the allegations levelled against Kyari by Hushpuppi.
