Young woman dies three weeks after her sister was killed in Ikoyi building collapse month to wedding

She was preparing for her wedding in December and worked as a second personal assistant to the Chief Executive Officer of Fourscore Homes, Femi Osibona, who also died in the collapse.

A lady identified as Amaka Enekwe has died three weeks after her younger sister, Onyinye, died in the Ikoyi building collapse on November 1, 2021. This was revealed by a Facebook user named Blessed Nasa Eriamah, on Tuesday, who shared the news of Amaka’s death.
Eriamah stated that Amaka was recovering from an illness only to die on Monday, November 22, three weeks after her sister.

Ann Iwelue, a sister to a man, Samuel Iwelue, trapped in the debris from the Ikoyi building collapse has shared the last video he made while entering the structure on Monday, November 1.

In the video, Samuel looked so happy as he drove into the compound. He complained about the heat in Nigeria and how the air conditioner in the car wasn’t cooling due to the hot temperature in Lagos
Samuel Iwelu is said to have come to Nigeria for a wedding in Abuja. There he met the developer, his friend who told him of a massive structure he was constructing in Lagos. They flew to Lagos to see the construction. Sadly, that was the last time anyone heard from Samuel.

CNN correspondent, Stephanie Busari, has taken to her Instagram page to mourn her friend, Samuel Iwelu, who perished in the Ikoyi building collapse.

Sammy was in Nigeria for a wedding and was invited to see the massive construction that was ongoing. He went in there and never came out .
Stephanie while mourning him on her page, said she was at the scene of the collapse on Monday November 1, covering the tragic event and never knew her friend Sammy was in the rubble. Describing him as someone who was always smiling and laughing, she wrote;

Death toll in Ikoyi building collapse rises to 38

The death toll from the collapse of a high-rise building in an upscale area of Nigeria’s commercial capital Lagos has risen to 38, as rescue operations enter the fourth day.
The 21-storey building under construction in the Ikoyi district of Lagos crumbled on Monday afternoon, trapping dozens of people working on the site.

“So far, 36 people – 35 males and three female – have been confirmed dead, while there were nine survivors,” Femi Oke-Osanyintolu, general manager of Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, told the AFP news agency on Thursday.

Ikoyi Building Collapse: Body of Osibona, owner of collapsed building recovered. A body believed to be the owner of the building, Femi Osibona has been recovered on Thursday.
A combined team of emergency responders recovered the body which has been taken to a morgue.
As gathered, the lifeless body of Osibona, was recovered Thursday, after painstaking efforts from emergency responders.

However, there were conflicting reports on when the body was actually recovered. While a report said the body was recovered early Thursday, another stated Thursday evening. As of press time, there was no official confirmation on the report. The 16 floors building was owned and constructed by the late Osibona’s company Fourscore Heights Limited.

A real estate dealer and executive director of African Bureau for Legislative Empowerment, Wale Bob-Oseni, is among victims trapped under the rubble of the collapsed 21-storey building at Gerard Road, Ikoyi, Lagos state.

The Howard University graduate was on his way to the US on Monday, November 1, when he got a call from his friend, associate, and owner of Fourscore Homes, Femi Osibona, to check out the ongoing construction of the Gerald Terraces.

Ikoyi Building Collapse: Full Names of Survivors Released

“This is an event that one can say that indeed mistakes were made from all angles and this is an event that truly really shouldn’t be happening in a modern-day city like Lagos state.”

Lagos state governor, Sanwo-Olu, who visited the scene of the incident on Wednesday, November 3. admitted that “mistakes were made from all angles” leading to the unfortunate incident.

According to the governor, “This is an event that one can say that indeed mistakes were made from all angles and this is an event that truly really shouldn’t be happening in a modern-day city like Lagos state.”
