A statement by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Thursday said that Obayan had gained access to the Equatorial Nuts Processing Limited systems based in the city and sent a fake invoice to their client in Australia, demanding payment of Sh35.9 million. “The email further instructed the client to channel the money to an account in China. This alarmed the client who immediately contacted Equatorial Nuts, in a bid to establish whether they had changed their bank details,” the statement read.
UN Warns Nigeria, Kenya Over Alleged Torture and Violation Of Fundamental Human Rights.
The United Nations, UN, has issued ‘Urgent Appeals” to both the Nigerian and Kenyan Governments, demanding immediate stoppage of any torture or violation of rights committed against the detained Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. This came as the IPOB, yesterday, told the federal government of Nigeria that the alleged illegal rendition of its leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu will not weaken the group but will rather destroy Nigeria.
IPOB disclosed this in reply to the statement credited to the Senior Special Assistant Media to President Muhammadu Buhari, Malam Garba Shehu that conviction of Mazi Kanu will lead to the end of IPOB agitation.
UN’s “Urgent Appeals” to Nigeria and Kenya according to a statement by Kanunta have been transmitted to both countries since August 26 and acknowledgement received from the Nigeria’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York on September 17.
The statement made available to NAN Tuesday read in part:”In particular, the said Urgent Appeals state in part that the United Nations is “alarmed by the alleged torture and ill-treatment Mr. Kanu has been subjected to during his illegal custody in Kenya. The UN intervention followed a petition to the UN by Kanu’s brother, Kanunta Kanu ; and his Special counsel, Mr. Aloy Ejimakor.
A suspect linked to the murder of Reverend Father Michael Maingi Kyengo from Machakos county in Kenya, has said that he killed the Catholic Priest because he sodomized him.
Michael Muthini said he got to know the Catholic Priest who was killed and buried in a shallow grave in Makima in 2017, during a mass session he participated in at Mbingoni Catholic church.
The accused through his lawyer Kirimi Guantai claimed that before the mass began, the father beckoned and asked to see him after the mass. Muthini claimed that after the mass, he went to see him but the cleric told him that he wanted to talk to him and since he had no time, he gave him his number so they could talk over the phone.
He informed the court that father Kyengo got closer to him, started visiting, texting and calling him on regular basis. The suspect told court that the late father even took the burden of paying his college fees and provided all his basic needs.
