Police arrest 15 suspected kidnappers, 7 others, rescue kidnapped passengers in Niger state

The Niger State Police Command has arrested 15 suspected kidnappers and seven others for various offences. Spokesperson of the command, DSP Wasiu Abiodun, in a statement on Wednesday, said security operatives rescued 15 passengers kidnapped along Bangi-Mangoro road.
“On 09/11/2021 at about 0730hrs, information was received that suspected gunmen blocked Bangi-Mangoro road, intercepted two commercial vehicles conveying passengers from Mangoro village to Bangi market and abducted fifteen people from the two vehicles,” the PPRO stated.

“Upon receipt of this information, the Command mobilized the Police tactical teams in conjunction with the military and vigilante to the scene, and as a result of the combined joint security team effort, the fifteen victims were rescued unhurt while effort is ongoing to arrest the fleeing bandits,” he added.

Angry mob beats two suspected kidnappers to stupor in Edo after victim jumped out of car booth and raised alarm. Two suspected kidnappers who allegedly abducted a businessman were beaten to stupor by an angry mob in Benin City, Edo State

It was gathered that the suspects, Efosa Osawaru, David Ayobami and another suspect at large, stormed a house in Ugbowo area of Benin City on Saturday, November 6 and abducted a businessman.
The businessman, whose name is not mentioned for security reasons, was abducted while driving out of his compound.

The kidnappers shot sporadically, forcing the victim to stop before he was dragged into the booth of his Toyota Corrola car and drove off.

Kidnappers’ middleman arrested in Enugu

Operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Enugu have arrested a man who has confessed to being a member of a Lagos-based kidnap gang.



Three ATM cards, two mobile phones, a wrap of substance suspected to be cannabis and an improvised pistol hidden under other contents in a mini-bag, among other things, were recovered from the suspect who has been identified as Oguchi Oguamanam.

Two suspected kidnappers arrested at the point of collecting ransom in Ogun

Two suspected kidnappers were on Sunday, October 3rd arrested by men of Ogun state police command while trying to pick ransom money.

The suspects, Muhammed Abubakar 42 years old, and Clinton Niche 18 years old were apprehended following a report lodged at Agbara Area command by one Stephen Ajibili who stated that his seven year old son, Daniel Ajibili was abducted by unknown persons while he was sent on an errand by his mother at about 11:20 am.

Abducted Ekiti monarch has been freed on Sunday night by the gunmen after the family paid about N2 million from the N20 million initially demanded by the gunmen.

The Eleda of Eda-Ile in Ekiti East Local Government Area of Ekiti State, Oba Benjamin Osho, who was abducted by gunmen while working on his farm in the community last Thursday and whisked away to an unknown destination, has regained his freedom.

The kidnappers had earlier demanded N20 million ransom, which the family said it was on the high side and pleaded for it to be reduced.

Confirming his release, a member of his family who spoke on condition of anonymity, said

“Yes, Kabiyesi has been freed on Sunday night by the gunmen after the family paid about N2 million from the N20 million initially demanded by the gunmen. The money was raised from many people and I have someone who contributed to it.

“As I speak with you now, he is receiving medical attention at a popular private hospital in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital,” he said.

Also confirming his release, the spokesperson of the state police command, ASP Sunday Abutu, said the monarch was dropped at a forest between Ode-Ekiti and Agbado Ekiti in Gbonyin Local Government Area of the state. He however did not speak on whether any ransom was paid.
