Nigeria: Passengers narrowly escaped death as their bus caught fire in Kwara

The Kwara State Service said it saved passengers from being burnt alive as their bus caught fire in Ilorin.

It was gathered that the terrible incident happened at Opposite Challenge Bookshop, Challenge area, Ilorin.

The agency spokesperson who confirmed the incident said the bus had just arrived the state when it caught fire and was bought severely.

Note: No life was lost as the fire man were able to stop the ravaging fire on time.

NAN had earlier reported that a corps member, after NYSC three weeks of orientation exercise in the Kwara State, took his love life to the next level as he proposed to a soldier in the camp.
The corps member in a video went on his knees as he inserted the ring into the finger of the female soldier amid cheers of fellow corps members.

Newly married lecturer fired after threatening to fail a female student over sex

Kwara State University, Malete, has dismissed a member of its academic staff, Pelumi Adewale, over the alleged sexual harassment of one Tosin Adegunsoye, a student of the Department of Pure and Applied Sciences of the school.
KWASU Vice-Chancellor, Mustapha Akanbi, made the revelation in Ilorin on Monday, December 6, while addressing a news conference to herald the eighth and ninth convocation ceremonies of the institution.
Akanbi said that Adewale had ceased to be a staff the school for bringing the institution into disrepute.



“The security agency has taken up the case and it is in court already, but I am informing you officially that the man is now an ex-staff member of the institution. He is a disgrace to our great institution and we won’t condone such acts,” the VC said.

Female teacher shot in failed kidnap attempt in Kwara State

Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have shot a female teacher in failed kidnap attempt at Osi, Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State. The woman and her colleagues, who are teachers of Ikerin Secondary School in Ekiti, were on their way home after the day’s work when they were accosted by the gunmen on Thursday, October 28.

It was gathered that while the teachers were trying to escape, the gunmen opened fire on them.
Public Relations Officer of the Kwara State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Babawale Zaid Afolabi, who confirmed the incident said that the injured woman is currently being treated in the hospital.

 Ten year old girl shot dead as suspected cultists battle for supremacy in Kwara

A 10-year-old girl simply identified as Mariam has been reported dead after she sustained a serious gunshot wound when some suspected cult members engaged in a supremacy battle at Oja Oba, an ancient market in Ilorin, the Kwara state capital.

According to eyewitnesses, the suspected cultists from Eye and Aye confraternities stormed the market and began shooting indiscriminately. One of the gunshots fired hit Mariam and her three-year-old brother, Abdulraheem. Marian sadly lost so much blood and passed on from the wound she sustained.

Men of the Kwara State Police Command have rescued the twin children and three staff of Owalobo of Obbo Ayegunle, Oba Samuel Adelodun, who were kidnapped on Thursday by unknown gunmen.

The children, their father’s driver, security aide and maid were kidnapped while returning from Osi to Obbo-Ayegunle in Ekiti local government area of the state. The spokesman of the state police command, Okasanmi Ajayi, confirmed the rescue of the victims by the policemen.

Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have abducted the 6-year-old twin daughters of the Owalobo of Obbo Ayegunle in Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State, Oba Samuel Adelodun.



The children, Taiwo and Kehinde, were kidnapped alongside some palace officials around 6:30pm on Thursday, October 14, along Osi/Obbo Ayegunle road.
