A hawker identified as Ekuma Jeremiah Iziogo, who went viral after a video of him giving money to prisoners in a correctional service vehicle surfaced on social media, has finally met his benefactor, Obi Cubana. Recall that billionaire businessman, Obinna lyiegbu aka Obi Cubana offered to give Ekuma scholarship to the university.

Cubana added if he wants to go for his Master’s degree abroad after that, he will sponsor it. He also said after the generous gentleman completes his education, he will be given employment into any of his organizations.

The entrepreneur, whose real name is Obi Iyiegbu, was grilled by the NDLEA on Thursday over allegations linking him to an illegal narcotics business.
In an interview with Daddy Freeze, the media personality, the 46-year-old said drug-related business is something he is strongly against.
He also disclosed that he had already made a covenant with God never to indulge in drug-related business.

Obi Cubana said he has “never felt so low in life” like he did when the NDLEA invited him recently.
The socialite also compared the NDLEA invitation to when the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) detained him for four days last year over alleged money laundering and tax fraud.

NDLEA Interrogates Obi Cubana over Drug Links

Regardless, further reports also say Cubana and his business network is probed based on the premise that he may be involved in the drug business.

On Thursday, January 13th, 2022, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) interrogated the chairman of Cubana group of companies, Obi Iyiegbu, popularly known as Obi Cubana, over his alleged link to narcotics.

According to reports, Obi Cubana was granted bail and asked to return at a future date after he was grilled for about five hours at the NDLEA headquarters in Abuja.

Police orders autopsy on lady allegedly electrocuted at Obi Cubana’s club.The FCT police command says it has ordered an autopsy to be carried out on the body of the lady identified simply as Susan, who was allegedly electrocuted at the Hustle and Bustle club owned by businessman, Obi Cubana, in the Aminu Kano Crescent area of Wuse, Abuja on Saturday, November 13.
The management of the club has since shut down its operations following the unfortunate incident.
“We’re closed till further notice. This is due to the loss of our esteemed client. We are deeply saddened by this situation and need time to heal from it. Our prayers are with the families of the lost soul; may her soul rest in peace. We sympathise with the family on this unbearable loss.”

Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has said that the individuals in a trending photo with billionaire businessman, Obi Cubana are not its staff.

Head, Media & Publicity of the agency, Wilson Uwujaren, in a statement on Friday November 5, described the report as fake and misleading imputation.
Uwujaren said the Commission won’t hesitate to take necessary steps to address fake news seeking to drag EFCC’s hard-won name in the mud.
“The attention of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC has been drawn to fake news trending on social media with the caption, ‘EFCC Crew poses for quick photograph with billionaire socialite and businessman Obi Cubana'” the statement read.

Obi Cubana Arrested By EFCC Over Alleged Money Laundering And Tax Fraud

It was alleged that socialite Obinna Iyiegbu popularly known as Obi Cubana, has been arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Obi Cubana arrived at the headquarters of the EFCC at Jabi, Abuja, at about noon on Monday, November 1, 2021, where he was interrogated by operatives of the commission.
A source disclosed that his case borders on alleged money laundering and tax fraud.

The source said, “Obi Cubana was arrested and brought to the EFCC headquarters on Monday afternoon over allegations of money laundering and tax fraud. He is being grilled by detectives as we speak.”

The billionaire business man made headlines earlier in the year after the burial of his mother which was themed ‘The event of the year’ by many tabloids.
